Top: vintage, Pants: thrifted, Flats: vintage
Sunnies: vintage from Portobello Road in London
And homegrown corn in the background!
It has been six days since my reluctant little feet dragged the rest of me off a plane from Singapore to re-commence my hill-dwelling lifestyle. Every year around this time, I swap my southern hemisphere home for my northern hemisphere one. While I am someone who thrives in hot weather, I am built for the tropics; the dryness of Perth's summers are a little too much for me to handle so yes, I was reluctant to get off that plane! I should not be complaining though especially with the disastrous floods currently wreaking havoc in Queensland and Northern New South Wales.

2012 was a good year of thrifting year for me. I managed to steal some vintage gems. Okay, no I did not steal... but with the amounts I paid for them, it definitely felt like I had commited theft! This pair of pants was an early-2012 find and although I would not group it together with the above mentioned 'gems', it was love at first sight. I thank the child or pre-teen who outgrew this pair (it was found in the children's section) and his or her parent for not simply dumping it in the bin!
It isn't vintage, I know, but doesn't it remind you of the original skinny pants of the 1960s (ignoring the fact it isn't high-waisted)? I settled on pairing two classic prints together in this outfit for a late fifties, early sixties feel. If I remember correctly, the polka dot print was the 'it' print in 2006, especially in the US, and more recently made a strong comback for Spring/Summer 2010. Realistically, polka dots were never out of fashion because so many versions of the print have come back SO many times, and the same goes for checks and stripes.
Right, what I'm wearing is perfect for the twist so I'm off to put on 'Let's Twist Again' by Chubby CHECKer (get it, get it?!) :P
Found this on YouTube: (I cannot believe I missed this growing up!)
